Between November 28 and 30, the first edition of the World Hydrogen Latin America was held in Santiago, attended by more than 200 participants from 20 different countries and had 40 speakers linked to the hydrogen industry.

According to the organizers of the event, it aimed to collaborate to exploit the enormous opportunities for the development and deployment of hydrogen in Latin America. It is time for the public and private sector to recognize the opportunities and put in place the partnerships and value chains that will serve the rest of the world (www.worldhydrogenlatinamerica.com).

Andrés Jara, business manager of Pares&Alvarez, said that during the congress it was possible to listen to the views of different actors in the industry: governments, companies, developers, technologists, among others. “It’s very important for us to understand how our customers look at the prospects for H2V,” Jara explained. The event was also attended by the head of the hydrogen area of P&A, Paula Clemo, who participated in the breakfast “A look at the panorama of green hydrogen in Latin America”, aimed at the Women in Green Hydrogen group, where the director of H2Chile, Andrea Morag, was the speaker.

According to the National Green Hydrogen Strategy, published in 2020, Chile aims to become the world’s cheapest producer by 2030 (without considering compression, transport, and distribution costs), so many Latin American countries have decided to boost their national hydrogen strategies imminently.
