Within the framework of the megaproject to modernize the Talara refinery, the project of the Seawater Desalination Plant for industrial use was developed. This unit will provide multiple services such as potable water, industrial water and demineralized water for the new refinery.
Pares&Alvarez participated in the first phase of the desalination plant project by updating the basic engineering, up to the first milestone corresponding to the definition of the main equipment, such as seawater pumps, filters and energy recovery equipment. In the defined teams, the possible suppliers were determined and the technical requirements to be met were delivered.
The desalination plant has a production capacity of 2,200 m3/day, being the first industrial-level reverse osmosis plant to be built in Peru. According to Petroperú, the desalination plant has been in operation since the end of 2021.
