With more than 9,000 attendees from 120 countries, the 10th International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC) ended yesterday in Sydney. According to the organizers, 3,000 B2B meetings were held during the event, 500 exhibitors, more than 50 government delegations participated, and a total of 600 conferences were held in the three days of the conference.

Andrés Jara, business manager of Pares&Alvarez highlighted “we are very happy to be back at IMARC, this is the third time that Pares&Alvarez is present at this important event, which allowed us to be in contact with our customers and with suppliers of goods and services, from whom we learned about key aspects of mining in this country and the challenges for the future”.

IMARC’s Chief Operating Officer, Anita Richards, said the 2023 event was an ideal opportunity for countries to attract investment, showcase their experiences, and link up with mining companies, investors, and suppliers to collaborate and develop business opportunities.

The trade mission led by the Chilean-Australian Chamber of Commerce (Auscham) and Andes Mets, which is made up of Andrés Jara and a group of executives from different Chilean companies, attended IMARC as part of their activities in the Australian port city, an opportunity in which they held meetings with mining companies and attended the panel “Chile: A copper and lithium mining country for the transformation of the world towards electromobility”, in which Ximena López, general manager Auscham; Mauro Mezzano, president of AndesMETS and co-founder of Vantaz Group; Jorge Riesco, President of Sonami, Jaime Chomali, Ambassador of Chile to Australia and Vicente Pinto, Commissioner for Asia Invest Chile.

Among the topics addressed at IMARC 2023, digital transformation, Artificial Intelligence, and big data, mine closure and rehabilitation, hydrogen and renewable energy stood out. Mauro Mezzano explained that participating in events such as IMARC allows to promote the internationalization of Chilean suppliers to expand the export matrix of cathode and concentrate on innovation, to export human capital and technology made in Chile.
