Pares&Alvarez CEO, Víctor Contreras, and Head of Business Development, Andrés Jara, highlighted the importance of the participation of the public and private sectors in the Prospectors & Developers Association (PDAC) convention for the promotion of Chile’s mining engineering exports.

This year’s edition of PDAC, one of the world’s leading mining and mineral exploration events, opened in on March 5 in Toronto Canada, and is estimated to bring together more than 25,000 investors, analysts, industry executives, geologists and government officials from more than 130 countries.

The event is attended by representatives of Alta Ley, Sernageomin, Sonami, Cochilco, Enami, InvestChile and ProChile. The convention’s agenda includes seminars organized by Chile’s Ministry of Mining and the Center for Copper Studies and Mining (CESCO).

Globally, Chilean exports of services reached US$ 1,606 million in 2022, a growth of 17% compared to 2021. Shipments from the sector reached 138 markets, being led by the US with US$ 539m, followed by Peru with US$ 327m, Colombia with US$ 149m and the UK with US$ 60m.

Regarding exports in the field of engineering to Canada in 2022, the main services were for copper extractive mining infrastructure with sales of more than US $ 4.4m, 279% more than in 2021, and for copper metallurgy with sales of more than US $ 1.3m, 67% more than the previous year.
